Ed – If the generator is good and if your B is equipped with stock cutout relay, with the engine running at full speed the ammeter should indicate 2 – 3 amps charge with the light switch set at “L”, and 12 – 15 amps when set at “H”.

However if the cutout’s been replaced with a voltage regulator (which often happens) the ammeter should show 12 – 15 amps at startup then gradually taper off as the battery charges up.

How to diagnose your B's "no charge" problem depends on whether you have a cutout or regulator. Here’s URL’s to a couple troubleshooting charts that might be helpful:
