Hydraulic controls on Farmall H

I have a '44 Model H Farmall with a complicated hyrdulic control. It has six positions, somewhat like a transmission control. Can anyone point me toward information about this. I just don't know what to do with it. Boy, I had a hyrdaulics outfit restore it... $ 250.75!!!! I think all I needed to do was get two felt oil retainers!!! Part of my education. Don E. Foster
