Had a similar problem on an 8 N with a leaking waterpump. When the engine reached a point where the thermostat started to let the coolant circulate, the fan would distribute a fine mist of coolant across the exterior surface of the distributor cap and the engine would start to miss. If you idled the engine down and dismounted from the tractor the engine heat would immediately dry the exterior of the cap and their would be no evidence as to the source of the miss. Fix the leak and the miss will most likely mysteriously quite. Post your results. Good luck
