Al pretty well covered the story for a '49. '49 was the year IH decided to drop "Deering" from the tractors. So early '49s were "McCormick-Deering". Depending on when the old decals were used up, some late '49s probably had "McCormick". The decision to change from the early "Super A" decal to the one with the white background was made as Al said. I don't think I ever saw an original Super A with the white background decal. So in spite of the decision, I am not convinced they ever got to the factory. No evidence has surfaced yet that a white background decal was ever designed for the Super AV. The very first A tractors did not say "Culti-Vision" but that was quickly changed in '39. The phrase was used in advertising from introduction. Another exception is the "International" (industrial) tractors. They did not say "Culti-Vision", did not say "Farmall" and did not say "McCormick-Deering".
