Hi and thanks for your helpful replies. I am going to give one of those places a call and try to get a couple belts. I also think I figured out why the belt was snapping. One of the pulleys on the L503 was grinding on the mower deck where it should have been separated by washers (missing!), and the metal-on-metal contact was causing it to get really HOT. I think this was weakening the belt. The paint was even burned off where the pulley was grinding against the metal. The mower deck was starting to score. The pulley didn't turn easily anymore. So I took it off, put in a couple spacer washers, and now it turns freely and won't grind into the metal of the mower deck. Too bad I didn't notice this before. It ought to be fine until those washers wear away... they shouldnt though, I'm going to keep them sprayed with lithium grease and replace if necessary. I guess I should also be careful not to get any grease on the mower belt.
