I agree that it is probably a bad valve that is causing your miss. If you go to the work and expense of overhauling it, spend a little more money and time and take the block out. Unless you know that the last time it was overhauled the block was out and cleaned thoroughly, it is well worth the time and expense to take it to a machine shop and have it “cooked out”. I have theorized that many times heads cracked on M’s and H’s because there was too much crud left in the block preventing good coolant flow. By the way, If you cook it they will need to install new camshaft bearings, but again, just another prevention to bad oil pressure causing bigger and more expensive problems down the road. MY 2 cents worth. If you are inclined to do it yourself get a shop manual and maybe a friend that has done an overhaul before.
