A couple of things come to mind. Since A-B-C-H and M used the same hood fasteners, and I've seen some '39 A's and B's with quarter-turn (Dzus-style) fasteners on the hoods, I would imagine they might have also been used on early ones. I also remember Dad saying that some early ('39-'40) H's had the small-diameter PTO shaft, but those might have been swapped out for "standardized" PTO's by now. Also remember one customer at the garage who had a '39 H with either a rib or a groove--can't remember which--that ran front-to-back on the top transmission cover. Also, early H's didn't use the seat with the tapered coil spring under the driver and the shock absorber; they used the seat with the cylindrical coil spring in FRONT of the seat. And of course there was the short and tall oil filter housings. Now, Hugh MacKay and Guy Fay can probably straighten you out on what years the changes went into effect...but these are the things I remember seeing when I was hanging around the garage in the 1960's.
