Hi Brian, it sound like a tooth is broken by the park brake fork. You can check it by the cover on left side in front of the left rear axle. Drain oil, remove the cover and in neutral turn the wheel. Check the gear on pinion shaft for a missing tooth. It's a major rear axle work to change this gear. You have to remove the final drives, bull gears and split the tractor.
