Battery size for F340 D

I have a Farmall 340 Diesel. It had a dead 1000 cold cranking amp battery in it when I got it. I am trying to get the correct size. The local dealer sold me a 685 cca battery. It isn't doing the job. If you have one of these tractors, let me know what size you are using. It is 12 volt.
