carb rebuild question HELP!!!!!

rebuilding a carb off an H for a friend and as i was disasembling it a ball fell out, size of a BB. putting a basic rebuild card kit in it and its not to clear as to where this ball goes. It has to do with starting shutter according to instructions that came with kit. It also said something about a spring that this ball goes with, no spring fell out when the ball did. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
