Scott, if the only problem is dirt, mouse nests, hornet nests, etc, you can get the nozzle of a air gun in there thru the hole the brake acuating rod passes thru, and blow out the stuff that's in there. If it's oil or grease contamination, you need to take it apart to clean it, with the danger here that you may find some bearings you want to replace while you are in there.
