Case/IH oil changes suppliers based on who has the lowest bid. And yes, the oil companies do change formulations. Here is why, when the OEM puts out what specs they want, the oil manufacturers will only do what is necessary for them to meet those specs. In other words, they will make the oil as cheaply as possible, while still passing the specs. Now when the majors make the oil for their own brand, they not only have to meet Case's specs, John Deere's specs, etc., but THEIR name is tied to that oil. They will usually EXCEED the specs. laid out by the OEMs because THEIR reputation (and ultimately sales) is tied to it.
