Guy Fay is correct, of course. But, IH was not in the paint business, the tractors were quickly painted with little masking. Therefore anything on the tractor got painted red. In my opinion, belts, hoses, gear shift knobs, etc look much better in the natural black, the paint won't last anyway. Anything made of metal should be red (except the rims). The axles were not painted. The regulator being black is a new one on me -- will have to look at some of Guy's pictures. Mine was black when I purchased the tractor, the only paint of any color left -- I assumed it had been replaced, perhaps not.
