S/N plate on A

I just realized (duh) that my serial number plate is not located where most others are, on the left seat support. Mine is located centered between the left and right brake pedal arm facing forward. After closer inspection, the plate is riveted on with solid rivets so I would assume that it is original. Does anyone know if this position was used in earlier years, since mine is a '39? Or is this just a fluke. Otis
