Rocky: All Farmall tractors of that era had an excellent wiring diagram in the IH operators manual supplied with the tractor when new. Even a manual from a late SA or SC, 100, 200, 130, 230, etc. will show you what you need to know. These all had the regulator just below the generator, whereas the 140 has it on clutch housing, but the connections will be the same. That failing, your best bet is have a talk with the Farmall wiring guru here at YT, Bob M.
