IHNC, I saw one recently, and although yours could be totally different, the way to tell if its a WD6 or an MD, regardless of the splined rear axle, would be the frame from the flywheel forward as mentioned below, and also the hood and grill are different. The one I saw ws on an M, and the steering shaft went through the hood as on an M, but rather than going into the steering gear under the grill, extended through the grill which had been modified by cutting a hole, and then going into a steering gear assembly directly over the front wheels. The MD grill and hood should be clearly identifiable from a WD6 grilland hood, and of course the WD6 steering box was under the rear of the fuel tank. I hope this helps.
