M charging problem

I have a 46 farmall M that i recently painted. It charged fine before i painted it. i checked all the wires and connections and they are all good. It is 12 volt and the altinator is only a couple months old. The battery was new this spring, i disconected it for a couple of weeks for painting and put it back in and now it wont charge. Could the battery have lost it's charge just from those couple of weeks? the only way to get it started is to jump start it with my truck. Please Help If You Can Thanks
