Yes, I know this all depends on soil type and such.

But, I say if ya put the darned thing in the ground, a H will not pull a plow very well. There is plowing and then there is plowing.

It always amazes me.

I watch these Dry-Landers go out with their little tractors equipped with way too many bottoms and think that they are plowing at 3 1/2 to 5" deep. That's not even plowing as far as I'm concerned; that's just scratching around.

Then, these same guys will come in behind with a field cultivator, which is also running at 4 or 5" and pull all that trash right back to the surface.

Try plowing under alfalfa this deep and the regrowth will beat you to the surface before you can get back home to the fuel barrel.

If your gonna plow, why not plow?

I've pulled more 2x14's than I'd care to remember, and if they are put in the ground at 8 to 10" where they belong, it is all a M wants in low gear; 2nd in the light spots. At least in this country anyway.

A 3x14 in heavy ground will flat bring a 560 or 656 to it's knees in 3rd.
