Hi, my brother has a 454 with about 15000 hrs on it and it has the same knock or rattle especially if the range transmission is in 3rd or 4th gear and the Hi/Lo/Rev is in neutral. The speed transmission is in the section between the clutch housing and the part by your feet is the Hi/Lo/Rev range transmission but in your case it will be the shuttle shift. He also has a 684 with about 6000 hrs and it has the same knock/rattle but not as noticable as 454. The 454 has had this niose for years and it doesn't appear to be a problem. I think it is a characteristic of this transmission. My 2 cents. JB
