H4 Magneto refurbish Service

Decided to service 1945 Farmall H magneto today condeser points Etc.. one question I have (well maybe problem) i decided to dismantle the distributor body to see if everthing was OK now I realise there must be a need to time the spindle/rotor drive, with the pinion I see that the pinion has a notch out of a tooth and the spindle/rotor drive has what looks like a timing mark with a left and right mark with one tooth variable are these the timing marks? any help appreciated. my repair manual IH8 does not give much detail about the magneto. Thanks in advance Eric
