The distillate carb has a petcock in the bowl so you can drain out the fuel and then refill with gasoline for starting. The gas carb has a pipe plug in place of the petcock. Other than that the two carbs are so similar that there is no need to swap one for the other. I own a 1940 H and a 1940 M. Both of these tractors were originally distillate burners and both are still running with the original carbs, even though they were both switched to gasoline many years and countless hours ago.
