Dale L: I have found that using a sledge hammer and striking the steering shaft between the upper and lower bushings will do the trick most times. if you still have trouble have someone pry on the bottom flange while you are stiking the shaft. I would not hit the threads except as a last resort. Working at a slavage yard, I"ve found this method works 9 out of 10 times, on hundreds of tractors. Usually the the 1 out of 10 difficult sectors are the ones left out in the fence rows with no oil in the sector case or tractors which have been in a fire(those are the worst).
