to make it up to the wife for buying the M.Accually she didnt get too mad about it,even drove me to the guys house to get it!Spent this afternoon piddling with it.idles good but was huffing and puffing when you pulled the throttle back and rolling black smoke out of.Fiddled with the carb, played with the mag some and have that little problem fixed for the most part,I think I may have soem old gas,it smells like it so a drain and cleaning of the tank is in order tomorrow.Changing belts as soon as I rebuild a spare water pump I have.Somebody years ago welded the adjustable pulley on to the threads and the belt wont compltetely tighten plus its about rotten anyways.Im sure glad my Dad never got rid of anything.Saved an old water pump that was on a junker we bought for the tranny gears, local guy has all the seals and bearing for it,just have to get the one section of the pulley for it.I have discovered 3 coats of paint on it,the first I beleive is original them maybe a dealer repaint with the "orangeish" paint and a paint brush coat on top that has all but peeled away.I kept hearing a knocking when I shut it down, the crank pulley is not tight on the shaft,Im hoping the nut just backed out some.I think it may have high speed gears in it,it just feels faster in 1,2,3 and 4 than my other Ms.Just wish my wife was as easy to fiqure out!
