Think the 464 replaced the 454 in production around 71 so the 464 will be the newer tractor. 464 also has about 5 more HP. Many of the 464's also had cat. 2 hitches. I have used a 464 some and found it to be a very agile tractor with the ps. While I am not familiar with the 454 I would assume that they are near the same. I own a 424 which is an excellent tractor for a 6' bushhog. On their best days these tractors are known for not having real good brakes but with a little attention they can be made to work quiet well. They have very strong hydraulic systems and tend to be front end light so take a little time getting used to it.
