Cal: I don't know the answer on the 1566. Black stripe tractors had upgrades on them that also came on later 86 series. I know in the case of 1066, black stripe tractors had larger rear axles and bearings. Diff lock was always an option on the later models, and not a very good one. I don't remember exactly when it became an option. I ordered it on my 1066 in 1975. While I think it was some good, it would not hold on a hard pull. By the time the tractor had 3,000 hours on it I don't think it held at all. I bought my tractor with single wheels, and within one year added duals. My main reason for the duals is tractor was leaving wheel tracks behind disk or cultivator. The duals cured that, but created a new problem. They beat the brakes and front axle to bits. You live and learn but if I had it to do over, I would forget the diff lock and go 4x4. I've seen that 16" wheel on front of 1066 drop out of sight in soil and it didn't stop the tractor. I did a lot of custom work on new cleared land.

To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
