Give us the 504 vs. D-514 story, I'd be interested to know how they compare. Anyway, the sender should be located in the cylinder head, possibly near the exhaust manifold. Bad news is, it sounds like you'll be buying a whole new guage. Those old style guages had a tube filled with gas connecting the guage to the sensing bulb in the engine. If anything happens to that tube, the whole thing is junk.
