A couple weeks ago, a good friend of my brother-in-law went to a farm sale by Ottumwa, Iowa. The guy was a big farmer and had some machinery he used often, and some stuff he never used much at all. Among many newer items, he had a 1066 with a black stripe, no cab, and only 800 original hrs., a 1566 with a black stripe, no cab with 1200 org. hrs., and an early model Case IH 1680 combine also with very low hours. All three were in mint condition. Guess what these brought. The 1066 went for $31,000, the 1566 brought $25,000, and the 1680 sold for $70,000! Who said IH tractors had no resale value! After the sale, the guy (who didn't buy anything), went to the local implement dealer and asked what a new 1066 with a blk stripe sold for new. He said $13,000. I figure the farmer made out pretty well. What do you guys think?
