Yeh, your boom was also your boo-boo. The mechanical TA CAN NOT be used for engine braking ie.) slowing down. It will... well, you found out what it will do. The hydraulically operated TA's fixed this problem. I'd hate to break it to you, this is going to be expensive. I don't know how extensive TA work is, as I have not had to deal with one, but I would definately seek a dealer's advice to how much work would have to be done if you did it alone or how much it will cost for them to have it done. Pulling that TA for slowing down is a big no-no on those tractors. Good luck on fixing it, and honestly, my heart goes out to you.
