Someone brought up a point. I think you have a 301 in your tractor, as they are basically a 263 without sleeves. I had my suspicions when I started reading your post, but as I read others I really have a hunch. Are there any casting codes on your block? Many will say C-301 on them. I know the 301 in an 856 will put out 90 horses at 6 gals/hour. You're already at 5 gals/hour, which is probably the result of a 560 carb on an 806/856 gas engine, the 301. I think it is a great combination, and I would think the combination M carb with the 301 is an awesome and extremely unique combination. I think you will be very happy with it's performance, and I bet there is enough air draw through the M carb that it really mixes the air and fuel well, and probably a large reason it will start without choke. Good luck, and keep us posted and informed.
