My experience (several Farmall Supers) is if the brake shaft seals do not leak, and if the brakes are kept adjusted, disk brakes work as well or better than band brakes. However even a slight tranny oil leak thru the shaft seals makes disk brakes go away. Incidentally and FWIW, I have yet to open a weak disk brake and not discover a leaking seal. The good news is the seal is cheap, and it’s simple to replace the seal without going inside the tranny.
