A electrical II

Well the altenator tests okay,but tractor still dies when neg batt lead is disconnected. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for an A with a 12v altenator and resistor setup? I want this thing to charge battery AND run off altenator.Current setup has Delco 3 wire alt,resistor between alt and coil,and a keyed ignition switch.Any help would surely be appreciated.
