Starting tank on M

Found a 40 M,junker for the most part.Not planning on restoreing,just parts.The sediment bowl is on the starting tank,not the main tank.Both the bowl and the fuel lines appear to be original.Is that right or not.Ive never seen it like that and if it werent for the fuel lines being so neat I wouldnt even wonder.Anybody got a clue?
