Dist Drive on M or MD

Can someone tell me if the dist drive on a M is the same as the MD. I know each turn the opposite direction but I need to find the piece between the mag/dist and the front of the engine. I know I can find one for the gas engine but the search for the diesel is coming up short.
Better yet if someone has an old parts book it might show a different part number for the drive gear or the same number would answer my question.
