Not to be rude but I didn't see one statement in Your post that is/was true. International Harvester became Navistar and is now known as International Truck & Engine Co., Still the same old company dating back to the 1860's. IH sold off the ag div. to Tennaco(1984), and many other operating groups like SOLAR (to CAT, 1982) Construction Equip. (to Dresser1983) Cub Cadet (to MTD 1981). "They" didn't "BUY" anyone, They sold everything except truck & Engines OFF to stay solvent & payoff debt. The cap IH used since the 20's was an Industry standard, and as the Standard changed so did IH's spec's. There NEVER was anything done to the cap to prevent sloshing of gasoline. The changes were similar to a radiator cap, quarter turn to relieve pressure and another quarter turn to remove. Only One person got hurt, and I won't give details of the situation given to Me by an IHC person (a Co-Worker from when I worked at FARMALL) who testified at the trial. There Is no "Money set aside", it comes straight off the operating income from International, and the caps are produced by a local supplier (to Me)about every three months. If Your cap leaks the local C/NH/IH dealer has them for about a Buck or two, or You could just fill Your tank half full like I do. And Yes, I do have a "New Cap", from about 1986 or so, and to be honest, it didn't fit worth a darn and leaked before I reworked it so it was like the OEM cap it replaced!
