modern ball bearings are made with a built in radial (interference) pre-load. If the bearing is loose radially it will be destroyed in short order with the load it sees. The outer axle bearing is rather heavily loaded. The inner bearing may be OK. Somewhere around $100 sounds about right for the outer. The inner is a smaller bearing. I would avoid a chinese bearing but Japanese or American suppliers are fine.
