Hi Ludwig, When the tractor does start after several attempts, does it smoke or appear to have been flooded? If it does the float valve in the carburetor may be leaking fuel into the cylinders causing a flooded condition. A weak coil or condenser may work fine until the engine is warmed up, then cause hard starting until the engine cools off, like overnight. Cars that had carburetors in the mid 70's had this problem too. Instead of using brass for the floats they started using a composite material that when it got soaked with gasoline it would sink. The car would usually start ok in the morning when cold and after driving a few miles and then after making a stop, the engine was hard to start. I replaced 3 floats on diferent cars and this cured the problem. I think IH used brass floats after they quit using cork, even brass floats can get pin holes. Hal
