Just so we are on the same page, we've got to agree that there is no 'down pressure' on a 656. Absolutely none. (But, I don't think this is how you meant it).

Okay, your draft control is a variable control ranging between "Heavy" and "Light"; when clear 'forward', the draft will allow the hitch to lower to the maximum amount that the torque finger and torsion bar will allow.

When the draft control is setting on the "light" position, the system will hold the hitch up at a shallower depth. (Hope this makes sense).

**But, all this will only happen if the hitch height control lever is down in the "Run" position.

If this hitch height control is down against it's normal lowering 'stop' (and not on down into the "run" position), the draft control system does not even apply or control anything. The hitch can travel from uppermost to lowermost. Kinda like a “manual control” thing.

In other words, if you keep that height control lever outta the "Run" position, depth is controlled entirely by the "suck" of your implement and the position of the height control lever.

Your cavitation problem. Are you sure it is cavitating and not just that draft control doing it's thing? They bump & yank ya around pretty good when they are controlling that hitch under load.

If the pump is indeed cavitating, then you have got to be low on fluid.????
