300 U Battery Box

The 300 U arrived with no battery box, just a bungee over the battery. I see some boxes listed to fit it. Question: does the 300U box have a top? Question the second: Will any of the common 12V batteries fit in the stock box? Question the third: Is there sufficient top clearance to use a marine battery box instead of the original for the time being?
