When I bought my 1936 F-20, the original angle-iron seat support bar had been replaced with a section of leaf spring. It was nicely done, and the leaf was tightly bolted to the seat support mount. It had a nice bounce to it. Then some YT folks advised me to remove the leaf spring immediately and find and install a correct seat support with the coil spring and the long bolt, which I did. The reason is that other Farmalls have had similar modifications done in the past, with a leaf spring used to hold the seat. For whatever reason, leaf springs WILL break, giving the operator a quick ride straight down to the ground, and possibly into an implement, if not saved by the drawbar. I advise you to inspect all of your seat parts to make sure that the bolts are not worn. If they are, replace them. Also, make sure your coil spring is good. I've heard that these can get rusty and weak, and if one breaks and the seat suddenly drops a few inches, it could be enough to knock the operator off the seat.
