Allen, I never thought of that You are Good I dont know what the full voltage dead short is but I see what your saying the starter is stealing all the power and when you let off it gets enough to the points to fire them corectly and it starts . I will have to check into that I know the battery is not that good I rebuilt the alt this past winter so I beleve that should be ok.
