hey matt, i have a 656 diesel and they are the best little tractor in the world, we have been farming since 1951 and have had this tractor since new in 1968 and is the best and most reliable tractor we have. It is rated at 60 hp but wonce its broken in it will run bout 70, 540 pto, single hydrolics in the rear and dual up front for a loader, 4 grand isnt a bad price, but usually when a tractor pops out of gear it is because the gear has been chipped by abuse. One thing to watch is the shifting linkage, after a while it will get sloppy and u can jam it in gear, that is probly wut happened and wen the owner was attemptingto un jam the tractor he chipped the gear.best of luck to you, if u do decide to purchase it you will not be disapointed
