To my knowledge, the only A"s to be equipped with a water temp gauge were distilate and kerosene models. The reason was that those ran hotter to allow better combustion of the low grade fuel. They had shutters to allow the operator to manually control the heat, so were equipped with a temp gauge. This gauge was mounted on the governor housing, and the sensor was mounted into a threaded port on the return water "Z" tube. The gasolene models didnt have the tube threaded, only the flat on the casting. Hugh MacKay answered the hydraulic gauge question.
