Here’s my two cents worth. I've been there, and left two different dealers because of rude treatment. The story... I had a parts man blow at me one day because I stopped close to quitting time looking for a rather trivial part that was difficult for him to look up. He went about trying to find the part for me calmly, even going out of his way by going to the parts bins and trying to find me a part. After he couldn’t find one, he blew. He mentioned the fact that when I had a big list of parts, I would check with other dealers to find the best deal, but when I had an odd part I’d harass him. The other counter person just looked at me with sad eyes and shook her head. Now to be fair, the part about long list was true, as on occasion I would sometimes spend thousands of dollars on combine parts getting ready for harvest. Sometimes I would save 15% at various dealer ships including the one he worked at. However, I never picked just that dealership to check for hard to find parts, I’d hit any place I thought might have it! Well, needless to say after getting a verbal scolding, I never went back to that dealership although it was the closest one to me. In the long run, this was probably the wrong thing to do as the dealership closed, and now I’m forced to go two to three times as far for parts. Maybe had I talked to the manager/owner he would still be in business and I wouldn't have to drive so far.

It was an Allis-Chalmers tractor dealership,
