How are the valve stems and guides for wear? If you move the guides, you will be changing the areas on the valve stems that are moving in the guides. May not be a big deal, or may be depending. If you choose to move them, press them. Pounding on them can have some very undesirable effects on the structural integrity of the guides and head. My nickel’s worth.
