i have 2 '39 "H" s. both use the odd fastener for the grill but the hood uses the j hook. only difference in tanks is that the 39,s of mine used a smaller outlet (1/4" pipe thread versus 3/8 pipe on thelater ones). had to replace the fuel valve on each and just used some adapters to fit.
