Chad, My 1940 "A" is the same way. The fact that there was no electric had nothing to do with the kill switch, however, as the "H" and "M" of the same years had the same mechanical kill switch, with or without lights or starter. The puss button switch that appeared on the later models worked the same in that by pushing in on the button, it established a ground connection between the Mag and the tractor frame/motor. I found out one thing, while restoring my "A", and that those mechanical kill switches are like gold, and hard to come by. I hope we get to meet at one of the shows here in Mich, and compare notes.
