replace torque in farmall 460

Was plowing with my 460 yesterday hit a hard spot pull the TA back went about 3 feet and felt a hard crunch stopped back up moved foward ok but has a knock rumble in TA housing Called IH dealer he said I busted the TA they want $1500 to put one in, ValueBilt has one for $600 my question is how hard is it to put one in and what all do I need? is it possible to repair a TA? IH said they can not get a trans shaft 361402R2 what can a fellow do?
