What you describe doesn't sound normal, and probably needs to be fixed before the pump is shot. Dumb question - is anything obviously loose? Are your hyraulic lines to and from the pump running hot? If so, you've probably got a problem with the safety/regulator valve (i.e., the system is running at high pressure all the time). If not, you may have a plugged or collapsed suction screen in the reservoir under the seat starving the pump, especially at higher RPMs. Checking this requires draining the system and opening up the reservoir. Unfortunately, the screen is very easy to damage if you don't lift the top of the reservoir STRAIGHT up. Hope this helps. Good luck.
