Don't know about what the others said of the input shaft (with gear) and the 4/5th slider being different with the over drive. If lucky, you have a problem with the detents and shifters. (top still has to come off the tranny). More likely, the 4/5th slider gear (5th gear part) is bad, or the pilot bearing is bad, or both. To fix those, top has to come off the transmission, lift all unit out the bottom and main drive shaft out so tranny input shaft can come out the front of the transmission. No easy fix!!
