Far as I know, 15W/40 is a diesel oil that meets gasoline engine specs. Again, far as I know there is no 15W/40 gasoline only oil. It is ok to run 15W/40 in gasoline tractors, but it is not recommended for modern automotive engines, as most automotive recommendations are for 5W/30, 10W/30, and in the case of Ford, 5W/20. For 70's and maybe 80's cars, perhaps 15W/40 is OK. I used to run 20W/50 in a 70's Chevy. Not going to argue with anyone who has a different opinion, because I ain't no expert.
